Weekly Classes
Our weekly Kids Yoga classes take place in Kilrane Community Center on Mondays and Drinagh on Thursdays, with both sessions running from 4:00pm-5:00pm. These classes are suitable for children aged 4-9 years old.
Each class is thoughtfully structured while remaining flexible and child-led, allowing children to feel safe, supported and free to engage in their own way.
We begin with gentle warm-ups and movement activities that support the development of gross motor skills, including balance, focus and core strength. This opening part of the class also gives children time to settle into the environment, with access to fidgets, colouring sheets and space to chat and connect before the main session begins.
Throughout the term, children are introduced to a variety of breathwork practices, using fun and engaging tools such as breath balls, feathers, pom-poms and imaginative breathing games. Children are encouraged to be creative and have a voice in how breathwork is explored each week.
Each class includes a story, which may be linked to the season or focus on an important life theme such as friendship, kindness, emotional awareness and self-expression. Yoga poses and movement are woven into the story, making the experience engaging and meaningful.
Mindfulness is gently integrated throughout the session through many mindful moments. These may include listening activities using chimes or singing bowls, short periods of quiet colouring accompanied by relaxing music, and moments of stillness and reflection.
Classes also include yoga poses, guided relaxation, and finish with a creative craft activity, allowing children to express themselves and leave the class feeling calm and accomplished.
These classes are inclusive, supportive and pressure-free. There are no expectations placed on children, they are invited to participate at their own pace and in a way that feels right for them. The focus is on exploration, confidence-building and helping children feel relaxed, listened to and accepted.
